Elizabeth Benway Receives the 2016 Frances Payne Bolton Legacy Award

Mount Kisco native Elizabeth Benway, graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing on May 15.

From the Family of Elizabeth R. Benway:

Mount Kisco, NY native Elizabeth Benway (Fox Lane High School 2012) graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University on May 15, 2016. She received the Legacy Award in recognition for her contributions to the university community related to her work promoting inclusivity and risk management programs for Greek Life and the campus as a whole.

In her role as VP of Social Responsibility on the Panhellenic Council, Benway updated and implemented the mission of Students Meeting about Risk and Responsibility Training (SMARRT) to promote a Culture of Care in the Greek community, where every member takes responsibility for their own safety and well-being, as well as the safety and well-being of every other Greek student.

As a member of the Panhellenic Council, Benway also encouraged and taught inclusivity, specifically during formal sorority recruitment.

During her tenure as President of Spectrum, a USG-recognized LGBTQQIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and allied) student group at Case Western Reserve University, Benway provided an environment where persons can socialize, learn, and grow.

Benway will be working as a RN in the NICU at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, and plans to continue her work promoting inclusivity throughout her life.

The Frances Payne Bolton Legacy Award, given at a the discretion of the dean of The Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University, honors individuals for their contributions to the school, the profession of nursing, and the community at large in the spirit of Frances Payne Bolton, health care advocate, philanthropist, congresswoman, and namesake of the school of nursing.
