ESPN Tennis Commentator Patrick McEnroe Is Guest Speaker at UJA-Federation's Westchester Sports Talk
More than 150 guests come to ninth annual event and learn about the organization's critical work
ESPN Tennis Commentator Patrick McEnroe, who enjoyed success playing tennis on both the collegiate and professional levels, served as guest speaker at UJA-Federation of New York’s Ninth Annual Sports Talk. The event, which took place at the Ritz-Carlton, Westchester, in White Plains, drew more than 150 guests who came to support UJA-Federation’s vital mission and hear from McEnroe, who often serves as a match analyst and on occasion calls play by play, such as during the U.S. Open, when he is paired with his older brother, John.
On the court, McEnroe’s best career performances came in doubles matches, including winning the French Open in 1989 and the Paris Indoor in 1992 with his brother. In December 2000, he was named the 38th U.S. Davis Cup captain for the United States Tennis Association (U.S.T.A.), helping the team to win the title in 2007 for the first time since 1995.
Guests had the opportunity to hear about the work of UJA-Federation, which cares for New Yorkers of all backgrounds and for Jews everywhere, connects people to their Jewish communities, and responds to crises — in New York, in Israel, and around the world. “We are all responsible for caring for the community and each other,” said Event Chair Ken Fuirst of Chappaqua. “UJA-Federation provides us with a vehicle to do just that. … Please realize that your presence, your generosity, and your commitment make a very real difference.”
