Football: Foxes Aim For Upset at John Jay
Hallock grateful for opportunity to play in rivalry game.

Things have not gone as planned for Fox Lane as it has lost its first five games of the season.
However, the beauty of high-school football is that rivalries play a huge part in it and having the chance to play in a rivalry game and coming out on top can go a long way in erasing the pain of a winless campaign.
That will be the case for the Foxes, when they travel to John Jay at 7 p.m. Friday. It is a game that Fox Lane has been looking forward to for a long time, according to its senior quarterback TJ Hallock.

Of course Fox Lane realizes that the opportunity to beat John Jay is one thing and actually beating it is another. The Indians have enjoyed an outstanding campaign with a 4-1 mark and are coming off an impressive 42-14 triumph against visiting Horace Greeley the previous week.
“We just had our first practice for John Jay and from what I understand they are very diverse offensively,” Hallock said. “They do a lot of no-huddle work so defensively we have to be alert at all times.”

For Hallock, the chance to play in a rivalry game is something he won’t take lightly. Hallock missed the Mahopac game, the second game of a season because of an injury. He suffered the injury against New Rochelle, when he separated his shoulder on opening day.
“On the sideline, I was told that I had a broken collarbone so I thought right on the spot that I was going to miss the rest of the season,” Hallock said. “So it was really a blessing in disguise that I only separated my shoulder.”
Hallock said the injury has made him more grateful of being able to play on the gridiron.
“A lot of players while they are playing almost take the game for granted,” Hallock said. “For most, high-school football is the last time they will play the sport. That’s because college football is so difficult and demanding. So now I appreciate being able to play so much more. I really want to be out there playing the game I love with my friends.”
