This year Fox Lane moved from a tennis league featuring some of the best teams in New York — programs like Scarsdale, Horace Greeley and Byram Hills — to a league with geographic neighbors John Jay, Somers, Harrison and Briarcliff.
Though the league was less competitive, Coach Jason Sector said it doesn't take away from what the Foxes were able to accomplish — they won all eight matches to win the league title.
"I don't care what league you're in, to go undefeated is very impressive," Sector said.

The Foxes clinched the league championship with a 5-2 win over John Jay, capped by junior co-captain Ryan Peterson and Matt Swensen's win at No. 2 doubles in a third-set tiebreaker.
"I've worked with (Ryan) since he was a freshman and I don't think I've ever seen him so excited," Sector said.

Cameron Silverman was dominant as usual in the top spot, although the Elon-bound senior decided to play in a USTA national tournament instead of competing in the sectional tournaments.
"It was a very difficult decision for him," Sector said. "He decided that's what he needed to do."
But there was still a Silverman representing Fox Lane at sectionals — twin brother Jesse played doubles with freshman Nick Simon.
Simon, who played varsity tennis as an eighth grader, played No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles this season. His mental game really improved.
"Seeing him grow as a player on the court is very special," Sector said. "He would lose his composure in eighth grade, but this year he showed a lot of growth and kept it together on the court.
"He made it to the sectional tournament. Most people can't do that by their senior year and he made it by his freshman year."
Silverman and Simon lost to Matt Billet and Mike Levine of Byram Hills in the first round, 6-3, 6-2.
Another player who showed a lot of promise this season was second singles player Charlie Ghriskey, who should over take the top spot next year.
"He always plays with a lot of grace," Sector said. "He's one of the best sportsman, extremely respectful, just a great team player. He has some big shoes to fill and it's really nice to see him develop."
