Friends Raise Funds for Karassiks on GoFundMe

A community responds to a teen's death and her father's injuries in a crash upstate over Memorial Day weekend with efforts to help.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help the family of New City resident Larisa Alexandra Karassik, who died May 23 in a car accident upstate that also seriously injured her father, Bruce.

The 13-year-old was killed when a driver ran a stop sign in Jordanville, NY and broadsided the Karassik’s car, according to news reports. He died, too.

In three days, GoFundMe has raised almost $50,000 as the Clarkstown community joins the Karassiks’ friends and family in mourning.

Here’s what the page says:

Larisa was a beautiful young girl whose smile could light up any room. She was an extraordinary girl who volunteered for her church and she never passed up an opportunity to volunteer for the community of Clarkstown.

Larisa was a graduate of Strawtown Elementary and currently attended Felix Festa Middle School. She was going to attend Clarkstown South High School in the Fall. Larisa loved sports. She played softball in the New City Little League, basketball for St. Francis CYO and had also played soccer for the Clarkstown Soccer Club.

This fund is one way in which friends, family and the Community can help support the Karassik family, which include Larisa’s mother and father, Anastasia & Bruce as well as her two younger sisters, Alina and Kira during this extremely difficult time.
