Girls Lax Semi-Finals: Daily Sports Digest June 8

State Tourney

Semis

Section 1 girls lacrosse Class B champion Fox Lane is headed to the state class B final four, with its semifinal contest being held today at 2:30 p.m. at SUNY-Cortland against Section 5 winner Canandaigua according to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association website.

Finals

Should the Foxes win today, they would play the winner of Section 8 champ Garden City-Section 4 champ Vestal at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at SUNY-Cortland in the state championship game.

Boys Lax

Tryouts for the Hudson Valley team that will play in the inaugural Empire State Cup will be held at Somers High School June 11 and June 21 at 4 p.m. according to Mike Dougherty's post on the LoHud Boys Lacrosse Blog.

Any player from the region currently in grades 8 through 12 is eligible to participate. This is a showcase for All-Stars, and there is a $75 tryout fee.

All interested participants need to register by June 10 at empirestatecup.com.

Adult Softball

The Challengers defeated FCC Vendetta 7-2 and Squires All Stars beat Matrix 17-3 on June 4 in the New Castle recreation adult softball's C-League according to its website.
