Greeley Falls To Rye 8-6 In Boys Lax Game
Quakers keep it close against one of the area's top teams in regular season finale, but fall short.

The Horace Greeley Quakers lost 8-6 in a boys lacrosse game to the Rye Garnets in the regular season finale for both teams Wednesday.
It was a hard-fought game for both squads, but Rye's dominance in possession proved to be the difference.
"Both teams played very hard," said Greeley Coach Vin DeGregorio.

Up 6-2 at the half, Dan Leventhal pulled the Quakers to within one at 6-5 in a third quarter, which they controlled.
A goal by Rye's Briggs Barton with under 30 seconds left in the third extended the Garnets' lead to 7-5.
Cole McCormack came up big for Rye in the quarter, putting the Garnets up three 8-5 after a Greeley miscommunication.
Dooley complimented McCormack's play as he is a force on groundballs and producing offensively for the Garnets. This was especially true Thursday against the Quakers.
"We are confident in him," he said. "It's his job and what he does best."
Greeley's Nate Becker cut the lead to 8-6 with under five to play, but the Garnets would hold on for the victory.
"Rye beat us to a lot of groundballs," said DeGregorio.
Michael Linehan had 13 saves in goal for the Garnets.
Gabe Weissmann saved ten shots for the Quakers.
Barton led the Garnets with two goals and one assist while McCormack and Christian Bonaventura each scored two goals. Jack O'Callaghan and Greg Stern each recorded one.
Nate Becker and Dan Leventhal led the way for the Quakers with two goals each. Alex Scott and Alex Cohen each scored one.
The Garnets defeated the Quakers in another close game, 7-5, on April 27.
Rye finishes the regular season at 9-7, while Greeley is 5-11.
Both teams find out Thursday who they will play in the first round of sectionals that begin Saturday.
