Guilty Pleas in Beating Death of Homeless Man in Mount Kisco

They stole his watch and beat him with a tree branch.

MOUNT KISCO, NY — Two brothers and a friend involved in the beating death of a homeless man in Mount Kisco pleaded guilty this week.

On Friday, Fredy Coronado Mendez Depaz, 36, of 16 Spring Street, Mount Kisco pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a class “C” Felony.

Also, Milton Aviel Ventura, 36, of 57 Spring Street, Mount Kisco, New York pleaded guilty to one count of Robbery in the Third Degree, a class “D” Felony.

On Wednesday, Mario David Coronado Depaz, 21, of 3 West Street, Mount Kisco, New York pled guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a class “C” Felony.

Sometime over the course of July 4, 2015 and July 5, 2015 the Depaz brothers beat Jose Reyes Sanchez to death in a wooded area off Lieto Drive and Lexington Avenue in Mount Kisco, said Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty in today's announcement.

The victim, a homeless day laborer was repeatedly punched, kicked and beaten with a tree branch.

Prior to the attack, Mario David Coronado Depaz and Ventura forcibly stole the victim’s wrist watch was from his wrist.

An intensive investigation by the Westchester County Police led to the arrest of all three men.

The Depaz brothers each face a maximum of five to 15 years in state prison. Ventura faces a maximum of two and a third to seven years in state prison.

The sentencing date for Mario David Coronado Depaz is February 23, 2017.

The sentencing date for Fredy Coronado Mendez Depaz is April 15, 2017.

Along with his guilty plea, Ventura was sentenced to time served.

Assistant District Attorney Jean Prisco of the Superior Court Trial Division is prosecuting the case.
