Headed Home to Mount Kisco? Beware Flooded Parkways

Gov. Cuomo issued a travel warning for the Hudson Valley as the evening commute began.

At about 4:15 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning for Westchester, Rockland and Bronx counties.

While the heaviest rain is over, storm water run-off is flooding streams, creeks, rivers and low-lying underpasses and intersections.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo urged motorists in the Hudson Valley to travel with caution as heavy rains and high winds are causing hazardous road conditions throughout the region. Motorists should watch for closed roads and downed power lines and be ready to take alternate routes. Moderate rainfall across the area with locally heavier rain has been reported in some locations. Earlier locally heavy rainfall of 1 to 2 inches per hour may cause excessive runoff and flooding in urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as poor drainage in low-lying areas.
