Helping Empty-Nesters Stay in New Castle

a roundtable discussion at the Chappaqua library

A community discussion on how to keep empty-nesters in New Castle will be held July 30.

It is sponsored by the New Castle town government.

“ These discussions provide an opportunity for participants to share their views about important issues facing New Castle,” Supervisor Rob Greenstein said in an email.

The second of the town government’s community roundtables, it will be held in the Chappaqua Library Auditorium. Here are some of the questions to be discussed:

  • Why stay in town & pay taxes after your kids have left the house?
  • Would you want to downsize - to save money and time on maintenance – and still stay in town?
  • If you downsized, what type of housing would you prefer (condos, townhome, one-story house, active upscale living communities)?
  • Would housing near the train station interest you?
  • How is our services for seniors (transportation, meals on wheels, volunteer opportunities)?
  • Any areas to improve?

The event will start at 7 p.m.
