Historical Society Starts Downtown Chappaqua 'Stroll'
New exhibit involve comparisons of Chappaqua's landmarks.
When you join the New Castle Historical Society on a "stroll," you'll find a lost downtown Chappaqua.
Examples of a bygone hamlet, according to the historical society, include talking about Hyatt Auditorium, the old post office site and the Band Box Tea Shop. Comparisons will be given between those former institutions and what has replaced them
Another fact that may not be known, the historical society explains, is that lower King Street once extended over the train tracks, prior to the 1930 construction of the original downtown bridge. It even had businesses on its former side.
