KG+D Architects Helps Break Ground for Scarsdale High School's New Renovations
Scarsdale Union Free School District held a groundbreaking ceremony on December 20, 2016
Scarsdale Union Free School District held a groundbreaking ceremony on December 20, 2016 marking the beginning of major renovations at Scarsdale High School. The projects will be funded in part by a portion of an $18 million dollar bond referendum that was passed in December 2014 with supplemental funding provided by the Scarsdale Schools Education Foundation.
KG+D Architects, PC (KG+D), a mid-sized, general practice architectural firm in Mount Kisco, NY, will be developing a learning commons and design lab in an underused gymnasium and auto shop and relocating and developing a new fitness center underneath the new gymnasium. The Learning Commons will serve a variety of purposes: an auxiliary cafeteria, satellite library, technology or computer lab, collaborative group workroom, and informal performance space with supporting small group workspaces.
The Fitness Center will be a modern training facility for the entire student body and support the implementation of the Physical Education Department’s expanded “Fitness for Life” curriculum. The Center will also provide training and conditioning space for athletes, including free weights, cardio machines, circuit training and additional space for warm-up and stretching.
