MHA's LTCOP Ombudsman Program Seeks Volunteers

Tarrytown, NY—The New York State’s Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) at The Mental Health Association of Westchester is seeking volunteers to advocate for residents in long-term care facilities.
Ombudsmen resolve complaints, monitor quality of life issues and help to preserve the dignity of residents at locations which include nursing and adult homes as well as assisted living residences.

The free 36-hour training takes place once a week over a period of five weeks beginning on October 2, 2014. Training encompasses a wide range of subjects, including: the aging process, regulations, levels of care, and how-to skills of working and negotiating with staff for the protection of residents’ rights as prescribed by law.
