Mount Kisco Considers Parking Changes on Sarles Avenue and St. Mark's Place

Both issues are on the village board's agenda for Nov. 24.

A public hearing on a proposal to expand Mount Kisco’s residential parking permit program will take place at the Nov. 25 meeting of the village Board of Trustees.

The program now is in effect on Gatto Drive.

Now on Sarles Avenue, there is a mix of commercial and residential property, with perpendicular parking with 2- and 4-hour limits.

However, a few residents need nearby on-street parking, said Village Manager Gennaro Faiella. If the trustees approve, the village would identify some of the 4-hour spaces and change them to residential permit-only spaces.

Also on the Monday night agenda is a proposal to restrict parking on St. Mark’s Place between Boltis and Spring streets—with no parking on the south side and no overnight parking on the north side.

Since the village floated the idea to the neighborhood, several residents have encouraged the change, saying that with cars jammed into every possible space it is not only difficult to pull in and out of driveways but often impossible for a fire truck or snow plow to get down the street.

The meeting begins with a work session at 6 p.m. and a business meeting—with public hearings on the residential parking permit program and on zoning changes—starting at 7:30 p.m., Village Hall, 104 Main St.
