MOUNT KISCO, NY — The Village/Town of Mount Kisco is warning residents that swimming is prohibited in Byram Lake for safety reasons and there are consequences to ignoring the prohibition.

The lake is the primary water supply for Mount Kisco and some properties in Bedford and New Castle. It is therefore important to keep the water supply as clean as possible, officials said. Additionally, the town pointed to concerns about unauthorized swimming where there are no lifeguards at the lake to perform rescues or first aid in the event of an emergency.

Municipal officials said there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the water as summer approaches.
