New Castle Cops Seek Help Investigating Former Teacher
The Horace Greeley HS drama teacher was arrested last month amid accusations of inappropriate conduct with students.
New Castle police have asked the public for help with their investigation of Christopher Schraufnagel, 41, a former speech and drama teacher at Horace Greeley High School.
The charges leveled against Schraufnagel, who resigned Sept. 4 and turned himself in Oct. 28, faces charges of third-degree criminal sex act, endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree sexual abuse.

The charges involve incidents with students that took place at the school, which are alleged to have involved 15-year-olds, and range from oral sex contact to inappropriate conversations.

As part of the continuing investigation into Mr. Schraufnagel’s activities, investigators are requesting the help of the public. Anyone with information regarding inappropriate behavior on Mr. Schraufnagel’s part are enouraged to contact New Castle Police at 914-238-6347 or Westchester District Attorney investigators at 914-995-3000.
Schraufnagel taught at Greeley for 12 years.
