New Castle's New Judge, Town Prosecutor Sworn in
Former Town Prosecutor Noah Sorkin is appointed as interim Town Justice, while Alan Sash becomes his successor.

New Castle officials had not one but two new members of its legal team to appoint Wednesday night.
First, the Town Board voted to appoint Noah Sorkin as interim Town Justice, filling the seat left by David Zuckerman, who resigned to become a Westchester County judge. Sorkin previously served as town prosecutor and his resignation from the office was effective Dec. 31, 2012, as was Zuckerman's.
Sorkin's abbreviated term began Wednesday and lasts until Dec. 31, 2013. A special election will be held in November to fill the seat. Sorkin, who is a Democrat, has not made plans for whether to run.

“I think it's a terrific way to stay involved with town government,” Sorkin said about his appointment, adding that he is “looking forward” to working with Douglas Kraus, who is New Castle's other town justice.
Sorkin has lived in Chappaqua for about 20 years. He also serves as in-house counsel for a division of insurer AIG.

Replacing Sorkin as town prosecutor is Alan Sash, who the Town Board also appointed. He has lived in Chappaqua for about three years and served as campaign manager for Zuckerman during his bid for county judge. Professionally, Sash is a partner at McLaughlin & Stern LLP, a New York City law firm.
“I'm looking forward to it," Sash said about his new role. He also felt that it seems like an “interesting and challenging job, and I think the town for giving me the opportunity to do it.”
Sash's term officially started Wednesday and runs until Dec. 31, 2013. The Town Prosecutor, Sash explained, handles local law violations and tickets issued by state troopers within town borders. The office is an appointed one, rather than elected.
Shortly after being appointed, both Sorkin and Sash were sworn into their offices by Town Clerk Jill Shapiro.
