New Rankings: Horace Greeley, Fox Lane in Top NY High Schools

U.S. News & World Report in a just released report concludes that 25 Hudson Valley public high schools are among the nation’s top 1,000. To view that list click here.

Horace Greeley High School got a Gold Medal from the magazine.

Greeley ranked No. 27 among high schools in New York. The school in the Chappaqua Central School District was also nationally ranked, at No. 157. And it was listed at No. 31 in the magazine's STEM ranking.

It got a "college readiness" score of 74.9 out of 100 -- because of the high rate at which Greeley students take and pass the Advanced Placement exams: a 79 percent test rate with a 73 percent pass rate, the magazine reported.

Fox Lane High School ranked 49th in the list of New York state's best high schools, according to the report. Fox Lane High School has a 91 percent graduation rate, a student-teacher ratio of 13:1 and a college readiness score of 59.7.
