Ossining-New Castle Ambulance District Becomes Mid-Hudson EMS District
The Ossining Town Board approves the ambulance district's name change.

The Ossining-New Castle Ambulance District has been renamed to the “Mid-Hudson EMS District” and thus any future business with the district should be done under this new name. The name was changed by the Ossining Town Board during their regular meeting on August 9th.
“This is a measure…a way to promote the regimentation of the ambulance services,” said Town Supervisor Catherine Borgia. “As you know we just entered into an IMA (inter-municipal agreement) with Croton. We hope this will provide better services.”
The inter -municipal agreement that Borgia mentioned was the temporary agreement with Croton EMS for Ossining to provide a paid EMT (Emergency medical technician) during the hours when no volunteer’s were available. That decision was made with the goal of improving Croton EMS’s response time and cutting down the frequency of calls going to Mutual Aid. The temporary IMA is supposed to last until October while Croton finishes their Request for Proposal (RFP) for a permanent solution.

The decision to reorganize and rename the Ossining-New Castle Ambulance District came from the Ambulance District Oversight Committee.
“This was made by the ambulance oversight committee,” said Borgia. “We think it’s a great step forward.”
