Paint Your Hair Pretty with Balayage from Richard Scott Salon

Unique dying treatment Balayage from Richard Scott will give your hair beautiful color and dimension

Hair coloring is one of the most popular beauty regimens; Most women these days have gotten their hair colored, whether it was in a salon or from a boxed kit purchased at the pharmacy. However, a unique hair coloring method being done more and more nowadays is the balayage treatment. Occasionally spelled ‘balliage’ or ‘baliage,’ it is known as the art of hair painting.

Fab Fact #1 : Balayage is based on the French word balayer, or “to sweep.”

Balayage is one of the most unique and exciting highlighting color techniques. Stylists and clients alike have been falling in love with the glamorous results they get after the treatment. The color placement looks natural and organic because of the brush strokes being used on the hair. It’s similar to the effortless color you'd receive after a summer at the beach.

History

One of the first appearances of this kind of hair color treatment was at an exclusive Carita salon in Paris in the 1970s. It was originally labeled “Balayage a Coton,” which comes from the strips of cotton that are used to help keep the colored hair separated from the untouched hair. At the time, the industry standard for this type of hair color was a frosting cap. In the 80s, a common technique used was foiled highlights, which many still use today. When it was introduced, balayage was a revolutionary technique.

Balayage made its first appearance in the United States, mainly among celebrities, in the 90s.

Today, balayage is offered in many salons, however not all the results are consistent due to the precise technique and detail it requires. If you’re considering a balyage treatment, it’s best to find a highly trained professional who will give you the results you are looking for.

Do I have the right hair?

Balayage is a coloring technique that can be used on all types of hair. Many wonder if balyage is the best option only for women with blonde hair. That surely is not the case! Brunettes, redheads and even those with extremely dark brown or black hair can take advantage of this hair painting style. For those with darker hair, the results may be subtle, but no matter how bright or dark it looks, the streaks of color will add dimension to your hair—something many women want when considering a highlighting treatment for their hair.

Fab Fact #2: If you are a dark brunette and received a balayage highlighting treatment, your hair would give off a beautiful dimension with a color scheme that reflects something like cinnamon or caramel.

Why it’s better than foils.

As mentioned before, foils have been used for decades now and they are one of the most popular color treatment methods. But foils often end up looking contrived or too uniform, which causes the hair to lack a natural appearance. Balayage color is painted onto the hair using soft, gentle brush strokes across the surface of the hair. The technique will leave your hair looking like it belongs on the cover of Vogue!

Fab Fact #3: Balayage won’t leave you with any kind of signs of demarcation. So as your hair grows out, it will still leave your hair looking softer and more manageable.

So what are your thoughts on the balayage hair treatment? If you think this is a technique you would like to try for your next color treatment, head over to Richard Scott Salon in Mt. Kisco, New York. Richard Scott has a number of hair and spa services for all your beauty and relaxation needs!
