Community Corner

Parent Support Group - Bedford Central School District

Parent Support Group

Mount Kisco Partners in Prevention, a coalition of the community’s public and private sectors,  is forming parent groups to provide support, information, and resources that address parent concerns on substance use and abuse.  The groups, which will be led in English and Spanish and are anticipated to meet on a regular basis, will have an inaugural meeting at the Mount Kisco Library on Thursday, May 29, from 7 to 9 PM, and local parents of students of any age are encouraged to attend.  The evening will be led by Heather Buono, Student Assistance Counselor at Fox Lane High School, and discussion groups will be facilitated by counselors and social workers currently working in the Mount Kisco/Bedford area.  Parents will have an opportunity to share their concerns, ask questions, and explore issues that include effective practices for preventing substance use/abuse by their children, recognizing substance problems among their own children and their peers, and approaches to intervention and treatment.
