Downtown Chappaqua had no shortage of clothing, tables and shoppers on Thursday, as the Chappaqua Sidewalk Sale began.
"It's been awsome," said co-owner Tara Mikolay. She has helped to promote the sidewalk sale in the past and has stepped up her role this year as a member of the newly formed Chappaqua-Millwood Chamber of Commerce.
The weather was overcast for a lot of the day, but that didn't put much of a damper on the sales.

"Every year we like to get down and dirty for the sidewalk sale, and this year is no exception," said Adam Friedman, co-owner of His sister, co-owner Dina Grossman, said it was going great. Inside and out of the women's clothing store, there were several folks browsing.
"There are a lot of people around," said owner Dawn Greenberg. She said that while the weather slowed things a little, she is excited for Saturday, which is the third day of the sale. It will also include the first-ever Taste of Chappaqua, an event put on by the chamber that will feature food contests and several of the hamlet's eateries.

"You're going to think it's another town," said Rob Greenstein, a chamber member.
Jodi Baretz, a Millwood resident, was among the folks downtown. One of the things she is in interested in is paying for the service.
"I want to support the local merchants," she said, "And who doesn't love a sale, right?"

The sidewalk sale continues today and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tastes of Chappaqua coincides with the Saturday portion.
This week's events are not the last for downtown. The chamber is planning another event called Fall in Love with Chappaqua, Mikolay said. It is "basically a fall festival," and will include food tasting, apple bobbing and possibly a petting zoo, she said, depending on how many sponsors there are.
