Quakers Boys Lax Defeats Harrison In Final "Greeley Games" Event
Final score was 13-6, and the game was the culmination of Saturday's "Greeley Games."
The Horace Greeley Quakers defeated the Harrison Huskies 13-6 Saturday, behind four first-half goals from Nate Becker.
The Quakers led 9-0 before Harrison attempted a comeback with 6:17 left in the third on a Spencer Klein goal to trail 9-1.
Greeley would only allow one more goal before the quarter was out, however, scoring two more themselves to lead 11-2 heading into the third.

The Huskies would not go down without a fight, scoring three more goals in the fourth from Alex Acompora, Brandon Bonistall, Jordan Brandes and Spencer Klein, a second-string player, to trail 13-6.
Despite the Huskies cutting the lead to within seven, two goals from Greeley's Ethan Berman and Josh Begleiter ensured the victory.

Greeley Head Coach Vin DeGregorio was pleased with the Quakers' preparedness for the game against a hard-nosed team.
"Our kids came to play today," he said. "It was a very physical game."
Harrison Head Coach Bruce Kinisky was proud of his player's defensive effort.
"I'm very happy with how the defense played," he said.
Becker had five total goals for the Quakers to go along with two assists. Gabe Weismann had 10 saves with Eric Shattschneider contributing three saves.
Spencer Klein led the Huskies with two goals both in the second half. Jordan Brandes and Brandon Bonistall, Sam Gioseffi, and Alex Acompora each had one.
Tony Conigliaro had eight saves while Leone Abreu contributed four.
Greeley finishes the season up at Rye on Wednesday in a rescheduled game while the Huskies and Quakers both a wait who they will play in sectionals starting May 22.
The game was the last of several games of the day as part of Horace Greeley's "Greeley Games," held for the first time in seven years due to scheduling. It encompassed varsity and JV teams from several boys and girls sports.
Greeley Athletic Director Steve Young found the day to be a success.
Seniors, including those in other sports such as track, tennis and golf were acknowledged at halftime. Seniors from other sports were recognized before each of their team's respective games. Other aspects included Greeley fan memorabilia being sold along with concessions.
Attendees to the day's events also had the opportunity to donate to the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center to fight juvenile diabetes.
"It was all in all a great day," Young said.
Other organizers included Greeley Sports Boosters President Frank Francese and Treasurer Beth Francese.
The three other varsity games that were played Saturday included: a 3-1 win for Greeley baseball over Ossining, a 1-0 softball loss to Tappan Zee and a 14-6 girls lacrosse defeat to Nyack.
In Junior Varsity action, the girls JV 'A' lacrosse team edged New Rochelle 12-11, with JV 'B' lacrosse losing 6-3 to Yorktown. Boys JV 'A' lacrosse lost to Harrison 8-1, while JV 'B' Lacrosse beat Yorktown 7-2, and baseball over Ossining 10-4. JV softball lost to Tappan Zee 16-0.
