Retail Roundup: Chappaqua Walgreens Updates; Frannie's Expands to NYC

End-of-Year Goal for Opening Walgreens at Ex-D'Agostino Site

If all goes according to plan, Walgreens could open in Chappaqua by the end of the year. Al Callegari of DLC Management Corp., which is helping the pharmacy chain with its move, told Patch about the opening goal.

Walgreens to take over 411 King St. from grocery chain D'Agostino, which resulted in the hamlet losing its only major supermarket.

On June 6, Walgreens received approval from New Castle's Architectural Review Board to make changes to the building. A plan submitted to the town shows that this includes a move of an entrance door from the left side to the front-left section of the structure.

Callegari said that Walgreens is "fully committed to the store. The next steps include finalizing an architectural plan for the building and to get a building permit; the company already has a permit for demolition, he said.

Frannie's Expands to New York City with YoArt

A little more than a year since opening in Mount Kisco, has branched out to a major second location in New York City. Its new eatery is called YoArt and it opened at the famous Plaza Hotel in late May. Set in the Plaza Food Hall, YoArt is already making its mark, whether it's with with Tony Awards guests or a mention in The New York Times.

Fran Albanese, who co-owns Frannie's with her husband, Isi, said the idea came when a representative involved with the food hall's concept visited on several occasions.

For Albanese, so far so good.

"We are doing wonderfully," she wrote to Patch. "The experience of "creating your own masterpiece" is very well-received in NYC!"

Albanese does not rule out expanding again, but added that "there is nothing set in stone yet."

Napoli Has New Overhaul Plan for Bell School & South Greeley Lot

Chappaqua architect Chuck Napoli for the hamlet's downtown. Similar to his reported proposal in 2007, the plan would involve replacing the South Greeley Avenue back parking lot with infill retail buildings, plus a theatre. The parking would be replaced by placing it underneath space occupied by an athletic field next to Robert E. Bell Middle School. The grass field would be replaced with a turf-field deck for the vehicles.

Healthy Paws Pet Supply Opens in Mount Kisco

Downtown Mount Kisco has one less vacancy with the opening of Healthy Paws Pet supply. Having opened earlier in June - its address is 119 E. Main St. - the pet supplies store filled retail space left vacant earlier this year by the closure of Acadia on Main. You can learn more about the store here on its website.

Verizon Store Leaves Mount Kisco for Bedford Hills

A Wireless Zone store, which sells Verizon-based phone products, recently moved a short distance, from 309 N. Bedford Rd. (in Mount Kisco) to 774 N. Bedford Rd. (in Bedford Hills). The move isn't very far, as Wireless Zone remains on the Route 117 retail corridor that straddles both communities.The new location, located next to a Hess gas station, was previously a large retail vacancy in Bedford Hills.
