A naturally occurring sugar alcohol that comes from fruit trees, xylitol is found in gum, caramel, and even toothpaste. So chewing gum with this substance could be beneficial to your dental health, according to Dr. Peter Arsenault, the head of Operative Dentistry at the Tufts School of Dental Medicine.
But hold off binging on those sweets. Xylitol can upset your stomach. Although it is fine in small quantities.
