Sports Recap - Lady Foxes On A Roll, Quakers Bounce Back In Baseball & Softball
Busy week of action for the Foxes and Quakers.
Here's a run down of the past week's sports highlights.
Baseball
Fox Lane baseball suffered its first defeat of the season, a 14-2 loss on Tuesday to the rival John Jay Indians. The Foxes had received excellent pitching all season up until this game. It wouldn't be long before the Foxes returned to their winning ways, however, in a 13-6 win over Byram Hills Thursday. The Foxes currently stand at 8-1 on the season.

Softball
Fox Lane's softball team remained unbeaten this week to currently stand at 9-0. The first win this week was a 13-9 victory over John Jay. Byram Hills was the next opponent and the Foxes easily put the Bobcats away in an 18-3 victory behind four RBIs from Jenna D'Adamo and three from Christy Lombardi.

Boys Lacrosse
The Fox Lane boys lacrosse team was victorious in all of its games this week. The Foxes narrowly put away Putnam Valley in overtime and beat Pleasantville 5-4 in four overtimes, handing the Panthers their first loss of the season. They then coasted to a 9-2 victory over Byram Hills Thursday to currently stand at 8-1 for the season.
Girls Lacrosse
Fox Lane's girls lacrosse remain undefeated, winning its only game this week. The Foxes beat the Horace Greeley Quakers 19-8 at home for a 10-game winning streak and 10-0 record. Lindsay Toppe led the Foxes with eight goals during the game. Sammy Jo Tracy also had major contributions scoring six goals.
HORACE GREELEY QUAKERS
Baseball
Horace Greeley baseball rebounded nicely after a 7-5 loss against Mahopac last week by posting an 8-6 victory over Harrison Tuesday. This was followed by an 8-2 win at Port Chester Thursday and an 11-8 victory over John Jay-East Fishkill on Saturday, to currently stand at 8-1-1. Andres Larramendi and Jesse Zweibon had two RBIs in the win of JJEF.
Softball
Greeley softball bounced back nicely after 3-2 loss at Harrison Tuesday by crushing Byram Hills 14-0 on Wednesday. Meredith Bilski hit a home run and Alison Truwit had three RBIs on the day as the Quakers improved to 4-3 on the season.
Boys Lacrosse
Horace Greeley's boys lacrosse team captured another win by defeating Guilderland before suffering a 14-7 defeat to a tough Somers team. Gabe Weismann had 17 saves for the Quakers in the loss to Somers. The loss brings the Quakers' current record to 2-7. They look to bounce back against rival John Jay Cross River at 8 p.m. on Friday at SUNY Purchase.
Girls Lacrosse
Greeley's lacrosse team is experiencing some adversity at this point in the season. The Quakers are currently on a five-game losing streak with their most recent losses against rivals John Jay, Byram Hills, and Fox Lane to stand at 1-9 on the season. The Quakers look for their second victory when they host Somers on Monday in a key league game.
