Unfunded Mandates: The Struggle Continues

New Castle, like every town, village and school district in New York, wants to get out from under expensive state diktats.

A note from Town Supervisor Rob Greenstein:

The Town of New Castle is proud to establish the “New Castle Mandate Relief Committee”.

The Town of New Castle finds that certain Mandates promulgated by the State of New York impose significant financial restrictions on the Town of New Castle, which translate into decreased local services to Town residents. Town Board wishes to explore options for obtaining relief from such Mandates. This committee will be charged with the task of identifying means for obtaining relief from New York State Mandates.

On July 22, 2014, the Town Board approved the appointment of the following volunteers to the Mandate Relief Committee, each for a three year term:

Judy McGrath – Chair

Warren Gottlieb

Neil Skolnick

Enid Leikin

James McCauley – Alternate
