Village Acupuncture & Health is a Healthy Treat for Your Body
Owner provides a multifaceted approach that includes acupuncture, message and personal training.
Traditional eastern medicine meets modern western philosophy at Village Acupuncture & Health.
Owner Jamie DiMauro hopes to ease chronic pain, perform post-surgical rehabilitation and alleviate the discomforts of arthritis and other muscular disorders through the combination of his three specialties: as an acupuncturist, massage therapist and personal trainer.
Acupuncture, massage and personal training act as a pain-battling trio that, when performed together, are used for the purpose of in-depth identification and correction of deficiencies. After hearing a client's specific concerns during a detailed intake session, DiMauro will use acupuncture to target and ease specific pains, massaging to identify and work through uncomfortable muscular problems, and personal training to correct the weaknesses and deficiencies that the other two services illuminate. DiMauro hopes to focus mainly on acupuncture, which he says has a success rate of 85 to 90 percent.

The owner's passion for acupuncture is personal. Following a career-ending injury to his knee, the all-state high school baseball catcher sought help from surgery and physical therapy. After months of treatment and no improvement, DiMauro turned to acupuncture and credits it with helping his knee to recover.
At Village Acupuncture & Health, a typical acupuncture session lasts a total of 25 to 30 minutes from the moment that the needles are inserted to the moment that they are removed.

While DiMauro states that "everyone says that you shouldn't feel [the needles]," they give off what he describes as a "dull, achy pain" associated with proper insertion. He cautions that "if you ever feel a tingling or a sharp shooting pain, [the therapist] is way off." Needles are pre-packed, used only once and are immediately discarded after each treatment to ensure complete sterility.
When managing pain, DiMauro follows his acupuncture sessions with massage. Specific needs call for specific message types; deep tissue, sports, Tuina (a type of Chinese medical massage) or Swedish massage will be performed circumstantially.
During both acupuncture and massage, clients relax on a comfortable bed in one of two quiet rooms in a newly renovated office. Although an extensive weight room is down the hall from the therapy rooms, none of the typical gym noises interrupt the calming atmosphere. The weight room, used only for one-on-one personal training, is complete with dumbbells, a Cybex functional trainer, stability and balance mechanisms, and other top-of-the-line fitness equipment. DiMauro not only wants to alleviate pain, he intends to use personal training to correct the types of problems that create pain in the first place.
For people in chronic pain, especially those who are frustrated with traditional medicine, DiMauro has the appropriate education, tested skills and almost guarantees results. For people just looking to spoil their bodies with a healthy treat, one of Village Acupuncture & Health's special services is the perfect present. Stop by and ask about cupping - which involves alcohol, cotton balls, and a flame - or Gua Sha - which calls for the manipulation of a spoon. They are just two of many unique treatments.
Village Acupuncture & Health, located at 322 E. Main St., accepts insurance and offers discounts for groups and packages.
