WEATHER UPDATE: Take Care During Frigid Monday Commute

More arctic air shoves the warmth away, refreezes slush and standing water in Mount Kisco and Chappaqua.

Two advisories from the National Weather Service for northern Westchester County:

Anything that melted during the warm Sunday weather will freeze hard overnight. That could include patches on roadways and sidewalks, meteorologists warn. And with the high only reaching 15 degrees, the sun won’t melt anything.

“When the arctic air arrives, untreated roads, sidewalks, overpasses and bridges will have the opportunity to freeze up,” stated AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Tyler Roys. “Temperatures can fall enough that road salt treatments may become ineffective.”
