When to Maintain Your Vehicle?
President of a Chappaqua auto maintenance shop offers advice.

When you buy your car, it will inevitably get wear and tear. The question is what is appropriate for maintenance?
Alex Fernandez, president of Preferred Auto Services in Chappaqua (the Shell staiton on South Greeley Avenue), say that "it's always a good rule of thumb" to stay on top of all services. These include items such as checking your tires, breaks, lights and cooling system.
Fernandez notes that owners should go by what their vehicle's manufacturer suggests for work.

There is a difference between that and what the dealer recommends, he explained, adding that a dealer may offer extra items that are not necessarily if a vehicle is properly maintained. The extra services are useful, however, for people who forget to stay on top of the work.
