Why You Should, Like, Ya Know, Say it Like You Mean it!

Valley Girl speak has not only made it to the 21st century, it has become even more pervasive, and worse still, fashionable! On Thursday, September 18th, 7-9PM, a panel discussion, “Say it Like You Mean it,” will take place at the Chappaqua Library on how to present our best selves. Learn how our celebrity culture and social media channels are influencing the way we communicate and the impact of the “like, ya know” syndrome – particularly on girls and women.

When it comes to verbal tics and crutches, we are all in the same pot of habit-forming, lazy-lipped, pop-culture-inspired soup. But these habits can weaken our speech, making us sound unsure, and studies show, less competent. And, while with our friends and family verbal slang and trends can bond us together, in our leadership roles and professional lives, we all want and need to demonstrate competence, speak with confidence and Say it Like We Mean it!
