With Win Over John Jay, Fox Lane Clinches Postseason Appearance

Foxes will be heading to the Division AA, Section 1 tournament.

The Fox Lane Foxes managed to pull themselves together in the final minutes of Tuesday's game against the John Jay Indians with a 54-50 victory. With the win, the Foxes bought themselves a ticket to the Division AA, Section 1 tournament.

Despite an edge for John Jay during the first half, Fox Lane was able to come back in the second and make it closer. However, it was with help from Oliver Silzer that resulted in a Foxes win. Silzer stepped up and scored seven points late in the game.

"We needed this," Foxes Head Coach Chris Violante remarked.

The Indians won the tip and immediately put three points on the board with shot by Jack Gernert from way out. Throughout the entire first quarter the Foxes played a great zone defense, but the Indians were sinking more shots.

With a five-point John Jay lead for much of the first half, the Foxes grew more eager to score points. At the half the score was 30-25 for the Indians.

It wasn't until the third quarter that the Foxes finally took the lead for the first time.  However, it was a two-point-game with a fast-paced fourth quarter, as both teams scrambled to put points on the board.

The score was close, and just when it looked like the Foxes would be defeated, Silzer stepped up. Quickly, he made an open-court lay up, followed by two huge three-pointers in a row.

The Fox Lane crowd went wild as the final seconds ran out and the Foxes won a trip to the tournament.
