Commack District Alerts Residents of Sex Offender in the Area

The Commack school district sent an alert to parents within the district Thursday regarding a level 3 sex offender who has moved into the area.

John Shelton, whose level 3 status indicates he is at a high risk to repeat a sex offense, is living at 1554 New York Ave. in Huntington Station.

The Commack School District's website has a continually updated list of registered sex offenders, which includes addresses when available and the level of their offense. 

As of Friday, the NYS criminal justice website lists four offenders living in Commack, all of whom have aliases:

• Jason Berman/Jason Alan Berman, level 2 living at 40 Sandy Hill Road
• Jonathan Knight/Kenneth Talbot, level 3, living at 30 Bethany Drive
• Richard Russillo/Richard W. Russillo, level 3, living at 15 Janice Court
• Christopher Dose, level 2, living at 24 Peacock Lane
