Police ID Alleged Drunk Driver Who Led Cops on 16-Mile Chase
The 21-year-old fled from police, leading them on a chase from Port Jefferson to Commack, police say.
SETAUKET, NY - A 21-year-old Astoria man was charged with drunk driving after leading cops on chase down the wrong way on a highway in Setauket early Wednesday morning, according to Suffolk Police.
A Sixth Precinct officer saw a 2005 Kia Sorrento being driven without headlights on Route 112 near the intersection of Route 347 in Port Jefferson Station and tried to pull the car over at 2:20 a.m.
The driver of the Kia, David Bonilla, fled police and drove westbound in the eastbound lanes of Nesconset Highway in Setauket and Lake Grove.

Fourth Precinct officers then saw the Kia and finally stopped the vehicle on southbound Sunken Meadow Parkway in Commack at 3:10 a.m.
Four police cars were damaged during the incident.

Two Fourth Precinct police officers were treated for minor injuries and released from Stony Brook University Hospital.
Bonilla was treated and released from Saint Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown.
Bonilla, of Astoria, was arrested and charged with unlawful fleeing of a police officer, reckless driving, DWI and resisting arrest.
He was also issued numerous summonses for vehicle and traffic violations.
Bonilla is being held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on April 4.
