Man With 95 License Suspensions Caught Carrying Illegal Rifle in Commack: Police

Officers smelled marijuana coming from his car Tuesday night, police say.

COMMACK, NY - A Copiague man who was smoking marijuana, carrying an illegal weapon and had 95 suspensions on his license was arrested in Commack on Tuesday night, according to Suffolk Police.

Officers were at the park and ride on Commack Road and Expressway Drive South at about 8:15 p.m. when they smelled marijuana emanating from a 2001 Nissan Sedan, police said.

The officers approached the driver of the car, 47-year-old Jerry Tenzie, and discovered that he had 95 suspensions on his license from nine different dates, police said.

Further investigation revealed that he was in possession of an illegal rifle.

Tenzie was arrested and charged with second degree aggravated unlicensed operation, fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Tenzie will be held at the Second Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
