Miller’s Ale House Offers Low Prices, Large Portions and a Relaxed Atmosphere
Commack is lacking in its fun and fabulous nighttime activities—especially for those 21 and over. That's why most of us rejoiced when Miller's Ale House sprung up right next door.
The only place nearby where a twentysomething can go to chill and throw back a couple of beers is at Miller’s Ale House by the Tanger Outlet shopping center in Deer Park.
A family feasting zone by day with everything from succulent shrimp platters to zesty Caesar salads, Miller’s actually checks ID’s to enter the building after dinnertime hours have passed.
They boast a wide array of beers on tap that is enough to quench most thirsts. From thick Guinness to sweet Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat (which just happens to be one of my personal favorites), there’s a beer for everyone at Miller’s. They also offer a wide array of specialty drinks which—depending on which bartender prepares your cocktail—contain varying amounts of alcohol per drink.

No, the bartenders at Miller’s aren’t the best in town; but most of them know enough to get you nice and tipsy off of something that doesn’t taste like chalk and cheap vodka.
Miller’s is more of a laid-back place to hang out with your buds and is a far departure from Long Island's club scene. It’s more of a sit-down-and-grab-a pitcher-and-some-wings type of place—though good luck getting a seat in the joint when there’s a UFC game on. You absolutely must arrive early on such nights to even have a chance of grabbing a booth or a high-top table before 1 a.m. Trust me, I've tried (and failed miserably).

If you’ve never entered this fine establishment before, here’s the low-down on where to go once inside: First of all, you need to know that the interior is bigger than it appears. There is actually a second back bar, in it’s own separate room, way past the bigger central bar and pool tables. This bar is for the rowdiest amongst you, as it tends to be the noisiest spot in the place. So don’t plan on having any intimate conversations here.
If you plan on eating and drinking as a group, you can grab your own booth, get seated at a high-top table near the bar and pool tables, or just snack away at whichever bar you decide to sit.
Really, it’s not that complicated. But from now on if someone says they’ll meet you at the back bar, at least you won’t think they’re blowing you off as you sit and wait at the main bar all by your lonesome. And next time you head out for a night of fun, keep your ID on handy if you’re headed back there. They tend to check every time you enter.
