Police: Motorcyclist Killed in Commack Crash With Unlicensed Driver

A 26-year-old Kings Park man was killed Saturday morning when his motorcycle collided with a minivan operated by an unlicensed driver in Commack, police said.

According to police, Christopher Colella was riding a blue 2004 Suzuki GSX-R600 south on Indian Head Road when his motorcycle struck a northbound 1999 Chevrolet Venture that was attempting to make a left turn onto Somers Lane around 6:50 a.m.

Colella was pronounced dead at scene. The driver of the minvan, 57-year-old Marino Guillen, 57, of Brentwood, was transported to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown with minor injuries, police said.

Guillen was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
