WEATHER UPDATE: Black Ice May Cause Rough Monday Morning Commute

National Weather Service issues a special weather statement for Long Island.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Long Island warning of the potential for an icy Monday morning commute.

The high temperature hit 40 on Sunday and brought about a “significant amount of melting” across the region. However, the mercury will fall below freezing once again Sunday night–into the mid-teens overnight–and cause any standing water to freeze, the NWS says.
