Three People Hospitalized For Minor Smoke Inhalation After Greenport Fire
The fire occurred early Thursday morning.

A house fire in Greenport completely destroyed the home and sent three occupants to the hospital with minor smoke inhalation early Thursday morning, according to Southold Town Police.
The Greenport Fire Department and other area departments responded to a report of a house fire on Kaplan Avenue at 12:30 a.m., police said.

The three occupants, Kenneth Macalpin, 51, Margaret Richards, 60, and Victor Colon Jr., 43, made it out of the home, but suffered minor smoke inhalation, police said.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and the occupants were transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital, where they were treated and released, police said.

The Suffolk County Police Arson Squad was requested and responded.
The origin of the fire did not seem suspicious, but is under investigation at this time, according to police.
