• Police charge North Babylon man in distract-and-steal scheme (babylonbeacon.com) — Police say a distract-and-steal scheme has targeted shoppers, including a woman at the Aldi on Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon, where her credit card was taken and used. A North Babylon man has been charged in one May 20 incident, while similar April and May cases in West Islip and North Babylon remain under investigation. Residents are urged to stay alert in parking lots.
