Babylon IDA to Host MWBE Panel Discussion
Webinar will Detail How to Get MWBE Certified & What the Certification Can Do to Help Your Business, Virtual Workshop Will be Held 12/15

On December 15, the Babylon Industrial Development Agency (IDA) is proud to host a virtual panel discussion about the value of minority and women business enterprises (MWBE). This event features expert panelists Angelina Ramirez, Director of the MWBE Practice at McBride Consulting and Margo K. Cargill, CEO of Titanium Linx Consulting, Inc. This webinar will show what MWBE certification is, who should pursue it, and how to get certified. MWBE certification allows businesses access to development assistance, the ability to reach more resources, customers, and contracts.
“As part of the Babylon IDA’s economic inclusion initiative, we are working hard to empower those who can contribute so much to our economy,” said the Director of the Economic Inclusion Program Dan Lloyd. “We want to ensure all minority and women-owned businesses have access to the opportunities created by this certification.”
This webinar is taking place on Wednesday, December 15 at 7:00 pm and is free to attend for all interested. The IDA asks all those interested to register at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_wbtAabp5SluQB_Mlme7uyg?fbclid=IwAR0I2QYoIIlDVeO47FlduAkS-GiezMLNgW8gjMdHvaHSQNF_TMzFFqNv5yY

The Babylon IDA recently launched its Economic Inclusion initiative which seeks to end opportunity disparities with the Town. As part of this plan, the IDA has worked with landlords to offer currently vacant storefronts and reduced rates for minority entrepreneurs. This program has already allowed for one local apparel business to move his operations from his car to a space in Amityville. The IDA has also worked to provide resources to help minority businesses owners establish themselves with the State as MWBE, opening up a significant number of new opportunities. In addition, the IDA has also passed policies to further incentivize the creation of more-affordable living spaces so young professionals have housing requirements that meet the growing demand.
