Copiague High School Delayed Opening After Receiving Bomb Threat

The school operated on a 2-hour delay after receiving the threat via email early Monday.

COPIAGUE, NY - Copiague High School operated on a two-hour delay on Monday morning after receiving a bomb threat overnight, according to a message from Superintendent Kathleen Bannon.

A threat was sent by email to high school administration at 3:30 a.m.

After receiving the email, Suffolk Police were immediately notified and an investigation began.

The high school was closed while police, the school district security team and administration search the building.

"The building has been determined safe and there was no evidence to substantiate the threat," Bannon said in the message. "The high school will resume its day under normal delayed opening procedures. We thank the Suffolk PD, our security department and administration team for their quick action. The safety or our students and staff continues to be our top priority."
