Deer Park Boys Track Team Earns Finalist Medals At Counties

The boys winter track team earned finalist and runner-up status at the county championships for the first time since 1987.

DEER PARK, NY —The Deer Park High School's boys winter track team has much to celebrate this season.

The Deer Park School District announced that the team earned finalist and runner-up status at Saturday's county championships — titles that haven't been achieved by the team since 1987.

This achievement also follows a second-place finish at the League III championship, the district said.

“I have no doubt that all the runners from Deer Park really worked hard for this meet and season and were able to showcase everything we worked for,” said senior athlete Victor Watson.

Aidan Neilson was county champion in the 1,600-meter race, Daniel Thomas won the 1,000-meter race, Jon Alicea finished third in the county for triple jump, and both the 4x800-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams came out on top, the district said.

The team is coached by Thomas Brouillard.

Other athletes competing for Deer Park included Watson, Henry Almanzar, Lutherson Chauvette, Mahdi Kamiri, Michael Leon, Maxx Perla, Justin Petrizzo, Dorian Pino, Daran Saul, Joe Sciurca, Dean Sparacino, Jordan Trojan.
