DEER PARK, NY — Clad in patriotic colors, students at Deer Park’s John F. Kennedy Intermediate School, John Quincy Adams Primary School and May Moore Primary School participated in annual flag planting ceremonies on Sept. 10 in remembrance of those who gave their lives on 9/11.

May Moore Principal Tammy Alcalde said that students were excited to wear red, white and blue in observance of the event.

“Saturday marked the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001,” said Alcalde, “a day that revealed the profound human capacity to care for one another and to recognize our common humanity in acts of spontaneous generosity.”
