WYANDANCH, NY - A Long Island Rail Road train struck a car on the tracks west of the Wyandanch Station and another car is on the tracks near the Mineola Station Tuesday evening, suspending service on three of the railroad's branches during the evening rush. The train involved in the crash was the 4:24 p.m. Ronkonkoma-bound one from Penn Station.

"The vehicle has been removed from the tracks west of Wyandanch Station," the LIRR said in a tweet at 6:49 p.m. "Service remains suspended east of Jamaica due to an unauthorized vehicle on the tracks near Mineola."

MTA Police are restricting access to Penn Station at the 34th Street and 7th Avenue entrance due to crowding conditions. Commuters are advised to delay their travel into Penn Station at this time. As an alternative, NYC Transit is cross-honoring LIRR fares via the 2/3 subway line for customers traveling to Atlantic Terminal for eastbound service, the LIRR says.
