Local Students Fill the Walls at Remodeled Applebee's

High School students from Deer Park and North Babylon are the the centerpieces of the remodeled interior of Applebee's.

Stepping into the restaurant at 1251 Deer Park Avenue, customers will immediately spot huge floor-to-ceiling photo collages featuring local high school students and other stars from the community.

“Applebee’s is an important part of the North Babylon community and the surrounding neighborhoods and our colorful new photo murals reflect that,”  General Manager Bill Nichols said in a statement.

In keeping with Applebee’s “hometown” theme, the stars of the full-color wall art are students from neighboring high schools and other local heroes. Photos depict students and athletes from the North Babylon, West Islip, Half Hollow Hills, Deer Park and West Babylon high schools as well as members of the local police and fire departments.

The exterior has been upgraded as well, with contemporary signage and awnings, and Applebee’s interior has been populated with more HD flat screen televisions to the delight of local sports fans. Still, the focal points of the remodel are the colorful murals that entice diners to get up from their seats in search of photos of family and friends.

“Community connections are an important part of what we’re all about,” said Nichols. “We help support our neighbors through fundraisers and sponsorships that benefit our schools, local organizations and neighbors in need. So, when giving the North Babylon Applebee’s a fresh look, we wanted to reinforce our genuine feeling for the community. Our new photo murals were the perfect way to salute our neighbors.”
