Man Stalked, Made Unwanted Sexual Advances To 2 Women: Police

The 45-year-old engaged in hundreds of inappropriate conversations with 1 woman since 2013, police say.

DEER PARK, NY - A 45-year-old Deer Park man was arrested for stalking and making unwanted communication with two Babylon women on Friday night, according to Suffolk Police

Beginning in the summer of 2013 and continuing through July 1, 2018, Joseph Mathews engaged in hundreds of inappropriate conversations, mostly of a sexual nature, with a 46-year-old professional business woman, police said.

In addition, between April 26, 2018 and May 1, 2018, Mathews engaged in both sexual and threatening conversations with a 38-year-old professional business woman, police said.

Both woman contacted the Suffolk County Police Department, and after a thorough investigation by the First Precinct Crime Section, officers arrested Mathews at his residence on Friday at 10:30 p.m., police said.

Mathews was charged with two counts of third degree stalking, two counts of fourth degree stalking and 2 counts of second degree aggravated harassment, police said.

He was held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday.
