New Pharmacy, Old Faces

Deer Park Pharmacy, opening next week, will replace the Anscot Pharmacy on Deer Park Avenue.

There is a new pharmacy in town, but residents will recognize a few familiar faces.

Deer Park Pharmacy, located at 1155 Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon, will open July 28. The new business, owned by pharmacist Henry Kahn, revived the old Anscot Pharmacy that was a fixture in the Babylon area for many years.

Much has been done to update and refresh the old drug store. The new pharmacy has been completely renovated to look clean and modern, with new fixtures, rugs and counters.

Deer Park Pharmacy is a full service drug store where customers can pick up shampoos, cards, pain relievers, make-up, use the copy machine, ATM and notary as well. The customer service counter is at the front of the store where a shopper can purchase items without having to go to the back of the store by the pharmacy counter.

Kahn received his pharmaceutical license from St. John’s University in 1976, and has owned and operated several pharmacies since then. Kahn currently owns five other locations including Sun Ray Pharmacy in the Bally Shopping Center in Bay Shore.

Kahn said he chose North Babylon, specifically the old Anscot location to open a new pharmacy, because “the pharmacy had a reputation for great customer service to the local area,” adding that the pharmacy will still have the mom and pop one-on-one service customers have come to expect.

The pharmacy will still do local deliveries of prescriptions and other items needed from the drug store without any additional cost to the customer. The pharmacy will also offer free blood pressure monitoring and drug regimen monitoring.

Those who visited the Anscot Pharmacy will recognize a few familiar employees who have come back to work in Deer Park Pharmacy including the supervising pharmacist.

Deer Park Pharmacy is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
