Pair Charged With Robbing East Islip Card Store

The fled to one of their homes about 500 feet away and were quickly arrested, police say.

Two men are accused of robbing a card store in East Islip on Thursday evening.

According to police, two men entered Lucky Clover, located at 29 West Main St., at 5:55 p.m., approached a clerk and demanded he open the register. The clerk complied and the men stole cash and lottery tickets and fled, police said.

Canine Section Officer Sam Barreto and his dog Chase responded and located the two men at one of their residences, located at 7 1st Ave., East Islip, police said. The home is just around the corner and about 500 feet away from Lucky Clover.

Third Squad detectives charged Daniel Dipaula and Matthew Ripple with second degree robbery. Dipaula, 30, a resident of the 1st Avenue home, and Ripple, 25, of 93 Saxon Ave., Bay Shore, were held overnight for arraignment Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
