• $2K Reward Offered After Turtle Found Tethered Underwater In Deer Park Lake (patch.com) — Residents in Deer Park are being urged to help identify whoever allegedly tethered a yellow-bellied slider turtle inside a zip-tied cage and submerged it in Geiger Park Lake, where Town of Babylon park rangers rescued it just in time. The Suffolk County SPCA says the non-native turtle was likely a former pet intentionally left to die and is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

• Wrong-Way Deer Park Crash Injured Elderly Couple, 3 Others: DA (patch.com) — People who drive Deer Park Avenue will want to know that a Dix Hills man has pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular assault for a 2025 wrong-way, marijuana-impaired crash in Deer Park that injured five people, including an elderly couple. Prosecutors say he fled an initial collision, then crossed the median into oncoming traffic, triggering multiple crashes and serious injuries before being arrested.

• Kings Park Man Faces Up To 11 Years For Robbing 2 Flagstar Banks: DA (patch.com) — Deer Park residents are learning more about a December 2025 Flagstar Bank robbery in their community, after a Kings Park man admitted to that heist and another in West Babylon. Prosecutors say he used a threatening note and implied he had a weapon before leaving the Deer Park branch with nearly $4,000, and he now faces a potential prison term of up to 11 years.
